My great Grandfather, Professor John A Hawgood, was a historian and researcher, specialising in the American West. His research took him backwards and forwards across the US, on road trips which traced the movements of American ‘Mountain Men’ and pioneers in the nineteenth century during the colonisation of the West. Hawgood Road Trips explores the documentation of J. A. Hawgood’s research trips of the 20s, and subsequent visits by his children, John and David Hawgood, in the 60s.
