This original painting depicts the Plaza Cinema in Liverpool. The Plaza is a community cinema run by volunteers. The films I have painted showing at the cinema are all from the few years surrounding the original opening of the theatre in 1939- ‘A Star is Born’ (1937), ‘Gone With the Wind’ (1939), ‘Casablanca’ (1942), ‘Romeo and Juliet’ (1936), ‘Citizen Kane’ (1941) and ‘The Wizard of Oz’ (1939).
